Exploring the versatility of shea through a deep hydration cleanse
We source our certified organic Shea Butter from Kperisi Village women’s cooperative located in thenorthwestern region of Ghana close to the city of Wa, at the doorstep of the sub-Saharan Desert. Around 100 women there work together to plant, harvest and extract the fats from shea seeds in order to create the incredible Shea Butter you know and love.
This incredible ingredient is rich in essential fatty acids and other skin-loving constituents and exhibits impressive cooling and protective qualities. This soft, creamy, smooth, comforting and protective magic ingredient is appropriate for all different types of skin and is a staple in many of our skin care, body care, and cosmetic offerings.
There are few things more comforting to the skin than Shea Butter. And one of our favorite ways to access the remarkable therapy of shea is by performing a weekly Shea Butter moisture mask.

How to Mask with Shea Butter
C L E A N S E
Cleanse skin with a cleanser of your choosing. We love oil cleansing before a shea mask with Neem Immortelle Purifying Infusion, Nourishing Cleansing Oil, or one of our Body Oils, as the steaming from oil cleansing best prepares the skin to receive all the nourishment, but any cleanser will work well.
M A S S A G E
Take two fingertips (about a ½ teaspoon) of a Whipped Shea Butter of your choosing and melt between your palms, distributing over your hands and fingers. Begin to massage into your face and neck, starting at the jaw and working up the face in slow, rhythmic motions, and then working down the neck and even decolletage if you’d like.
R E S T
Allow to rest for ten to thirty minutes. We love to take a still moment here to relax, meditate, or enjoy a cup of herbal tea.
S T E A M
The key step of Shea Masking is steam. Take a washcloth and submerge it into hot water, wringing it out to remove excess moisture. Place the steamy cloth over your face, pressing slowly and gently into the cheeks, forehead and chin. Repeat 3-4 times until all the Whipped Shea is absorbed and skin feels supple and resilient.
H Y D R A T E
Saturate your skin with an abundant misting of HydroSoul, pressing the droplets into your skin. If your skin is asking for more moisture, add a little extra Shea.
Our Favorite Shea Butter Masking Products
Whipped Shea Butter with Olive Leaf
This is our first choice for hyperactive, irritated or wildly sensitive skin because it pacifies irritation and heat through a plethora of soothing and nourishing EFAs and its naturally occurring lupeol, α-amyrin, and β-amyrin, and because it has a very neutral scent.
Whipped Patchouli Vanilla Shea Butter
If you’re a fan of aged patchouli you’ll love this Shea Butter. We’ve added aged Indonesian patchouli to a luscious vanilla from Madagascar, and both are woven into our base of Shea Butter and nourishing oils.
Whipped Moroccan Argan Butter
Argan oil is a dream for all skin and all ages. Dry, oily, combo, blemish-prone, mature, sensitive - every skin condition can benefit from its gentle nourishment. It cultivates skin that is smooth and clear, minimizes the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and plumps, softens and nourishes skin. Velvety argan oil is whipped into rich shea butter to create a luscious, deeply nourishing balm, rich in EFAs and antioxidants that is a wonderful choice for shea masking.
Whipped Vetiver Hinoki Body Butter
This calming, centering blend of sacred hinoki cypress, earthy vetiver and uplifting sweet orange is woven into a base of Shea Butter to strengthen and soothe the spirit, leaving your skin feeling alive and refreshed.

An amazing transformation just took place on my skin after moisture masking with shea butter with olive leaf for the first time. Just before, my super sensitive skin was aflame and irritated from troubles I’ve been having with retinol, which I am fairly new to. Now afterwards my skin is vastly calmer and rosy pink rather than fiery red. Which in turn leaves me feeling more tranquil than I’ve felt since starting retinol. Thank you for this lifesaving discovery.
