“Your skincare is only as vital as the land and people it comes from.”
For decades, our beloved Whipped Shea Butter has been a symbol of deep cocooning nourishment. Celebrated for its ability to soothe, protect, and restore, it has long held a cherished place in our collection. Today, it carries an even deeper story.
We’re honored to share that our Whipped Shea Butter with Olive Leaf is now Regenified Certified–our first product to feature front-of-box regenerative certification. This milestone marks a profound step in our ongoing commitment to healing the land, honoring its stewards, and expanding our regenerative footprint.

Regenified Shea, From the Source
This transformation began through our partnership with ORGIIS (Organization for Indigenous Initiatives and Sustainability) in Ghana, who cultivate Regenified Certified shea butter. Recently, our rag-tag alchemist, Andy, journeyed to Ghana to deepen this connection, witnessing firsthand the regenerative practices rooted in indigenous knowledge and community-led ecosystems.
For us, certification is only part of the story. The true heart of regeneration lies in the people, the soil, and the shared intention behind every ingredient.

A Slow, Intentional Craft
Each jar of Whipped Shea Butter is handmade in small batches. Over four to six hours, raw, unrefined shea is folded into a soft, whipped texture. Into this base, we blend Regenerative Organic Certified (ROC) calendula, olive leaf, nettle, comfrey, self heal, jojoba, and olive oil–along with a proprietary Flower Essence Blend that carries subtle plant intelligence just below the threshold of perception.
The result is a butter that reflects the vitality of the land–alive, healing, and intentional.

The Plants That Shape This Butter.
Olive trees stand as ancient sentinels, their roots gripping the earth, their leaves holding deep secrets of longevity. Pressed from their sun-fed fruit, the oil flows golden, offering its protective embrace to both skin and soil.
Our ROC Olive Oil is sourced from our stewards, Frantoio Grove, whose farming methods allow for biodiversity, soil regeneration, and long-term sustainability.
Jojoba moves like liquid light, mirroring the skin’s own sebum, balancing, softening, healing. A desert native, its resilience is woven into every drop.
ROC Jojoba, its balancing and healing qualities are amplified by its regenerative origin, grown by Jalisco Jojoba, in an environment where water is precious and resilience is everything.
Olive leaf, ancient emissary of peace, offering renewal in each silver-green leaf.
ROC Olive leaf is rich in antioxidants and phytonutrients that protect against environmental stressors. Its gentle, astringent nature helps tone and clarify, making it a powerful ally for sensitive and reactive skin.
Calendula, known as the bride of the sun, unfurls its golden petals, carrying warmth in its resinous heart. A flower of renewal, its gentle power soothes and strengthens.
Just one of the several ROC herbs from Oshala Farms, infused into our Whipped Shea Butter, impart its calming magic for skin in need of restoration.

Leading with Regeneration
Becoming Regenified Certified didn’t happen overnight. It began with a simple question: How can we deepen our impact?
Working alongside regenerative pioneers and the Sustainable Herbs Initiative with Ann Armbrecht, we committed to going beyond organic certification. By supporting partners like ORGIIS in Ghana, and cultivating new relationships with regenerative farms in Arizona, Oregon and California, we are building a transparent, resilient network rooted in reciprocity.
What Comes Next
This is only the beginning. In the coming year, several of our farmers in Washington’s Columbia River Valley will begin their journey toward regenerative certification with our support. We’ll also host a summer gathering of farmers, retailers, and advocates for a celebration of this growing movement.
Each regenerative ingredient, each partnership, and each step forward brings us closer to a vision where skincare nourishes not only the skin, but the world it comes from.

From Nut to Butter:
How Shea Butter is Made
Before the Butter reaches our hands, it undergoes an extraordinary labor of love. It takes a shea tree up to 50 years to mature enough to be harvested, then it will bear fruit for around 200 years. After harvesting, the pits of the plum sized shea fruit are boiled and dried in the sun. Then the hard outer shells are cracked and the ‘kernels’ are removed, and then roasted over an open flame fueled by wood and ground by machine.
The resulting paste is mixed with water and kneaded vigorously by hand to form an emulsion until it separates - the fat or oil rising to the top. The fat is then scooped off, put into large bowls and cooked over an open fire until the water evaporates. It is then stirred or churned with wooden paddles then cooled until solid, creating a smooth butter. Since each batch is made by hand it is normal for variations in color and texture to occur. No chemicals or pesticides are used in the preparation of our shea butter. In fact the production process is done by hand much the same way it has been for centuries.
When the Shea Butter reaches our evanhealy headquarters in Carlsbad, California we carve off large slices and drizzle in various nourishing oils and botanical infusions. Slowly, over a period of 4-6 hours, we gently whip it, continually checking and scraping the sides of the mixer to incorporate all the goodness of the Shea Butter. We then individually fill, package and label each jar by hand.
