The Hidden Story of "Fragrance"

Often, behind the sweet, lingering aroma in conventional creams and cleansers lies a complicated blend of synthetic fragrance, a veil woven of petrochemicals, hidden constituents, and undisclosed compounds. These scents, though familiar, do not always serve our deepest well being.

When a product label says “fragrance” or “parfum,” it rarely tells the whole story. These umbrella terms may include phthalates, known to disrupt hormones and volatile organic compounds (VOCs), which can irritate the skin, burden the lungs, and disturb the nervous system. While their scent may seem pleasing, their presence is often disruptive to our inner harmony.

An invitation to simplicity

Fragrance is one of the most common skin irritants. It can lead to redness, rashes, and inflammation, especially for sensitive skin or during tender life phases like pregnancy and childhood.

That is why, in all of our skin care formulations, we walk a different path.

When we speak of aroma, we mean whole plant infusions, flowers steeped in nourishing oils, resins and leaves gently unfolded in warmth and time. And when we use essential oils, we use only whole essential oils, never isolates.

Whole essential oils

Whole essential oils are complete expressions of the plant. They contain the full spectrum of naturally occurring therapeutic constituents, each working in harmony with the others, just as nature intended. In contrast, isolates are single aromatic molecules separated from their original plant context. While they may mimic scent, they lack the balancing intelligence of the whole.

We believe in the power of subtlety. That is why we microdose essential oils, using them sparingly and with great intention. This gentle approach supports the skin's natural rhythm and keeps the nervous system at ease. Aroma, when used with reverence, becomes a quiet ally, never overwhelming, always grounding.

And in many of our offerings, there is no scent at all. Just pure, unadorned nourishment. A space for the skin to breathe, for the senses to rest, for you to return to yourself.
