Founded in 2010 by chef José Andrés, World Central Kitchen, opens in a new tab has been on the front lines in disaster zones for over the past decade. The organization harnesses the power of food to nourish communities and strengthen economies during times of crisis and beyond.

As man-made and natural disasters unfold around the world, World Central Kitchen’s Chef Relief Team mobilizes to provide meals to those in need. In addition to cooking, their work advances human and environmental health, offering a series of programs to empower locally including professional culinary training, clean cooking information and kitchen safety training. Their work creates jobs locally and improves food security in the short and long term. In 2020 at the start of the Covid-19 Pandemic, WCK acted immediately to support more communities than ever before while also supporting thousands of local restaurants and responding to disasters on five continents (including the fires in Australia, the deadly explosion in Lebanon, and the devastating hurricanes in Central America).
