Its exceptional healing and regenerative action comes from the synergistic combination of oils rich in antioxidants, essential fatty acids, carotenes, tocopherols and phytosterols. In addition to certified organic oils of calophyllum inophyllum (also known as foraha or tamanu), from Madagascar, and pomegranate oil, we’ve added the precious, hand-pressed argan oil, a powerful antioxidant and USDA certified organic, exclusively produced by UCFA (Union des Cooperatives des Femmes de l’Arganeraie), small self-governed women's cooperatives in the Arganeraie, a UNESCO protected Biosphere Reserve in Southern Morocco.

Ethical- Sustainable -Renewable

During the last decade, indigenous Berber women founded these cooperatives to produce traditionally handcrafted, renewable and sustainable argan oil from the seeds of this wild-growing thorny evergreen, a tree that can be traced back twenty million years. Cooperative argan oil production not only contributes to the economic needs of Berber women and their families, but also enhances the value of the endangered argan tree itself, which in turn discourages logging and thus helps protect the remaining argan forest.

Using Traditional Methods

Berber tribes produce this rare oil using a traditional, complex and labor-intensive process. After separating the dried fruit, the extremely hard nut is opened between two stones. The seeds are removed from the nutshells and lightly roasted to enhance the flavor of the oil. The roasted kernels are ground in a heavy stone quern, producing an oily paste. The Berber women then continually kneed the paste to extract the oil from the paste. After decanting and filtering, the oil is ready for consumption or use. The art of producing argan oil in this traditional way has been handed down and perfected from generation to generation.

Powerful Antioxidant ingredients: Anti-aging Therapy for Skin

A key ingredient in our Light Moisture Replenishing Fluid, argan’s high percentage of tocopherols (vitamin E) provides powerful antioxidant action that helps to heal skin, reduce signs of aging, destroy free radicals and fight oxidation. It is one of the highest naturally occurring sources of vitamin E, and its unsaturated fats help the skin maintain moisture and cohesion. The oil is also rich in saponins, which help to soften the skin and to minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles

Argan oil has been produced for hundreds, possibly thousands, of years by Berber tribes in the Arganeraie – the only place where the rare and endangered argan tree grows. Argan trees survive with little rain. During severe droughts, the argan tree sheds its leaves and become dormant – only to thrive again with the onset of rain. The root system channels water from torrential rainfalls underground, thus playing a crucial role in the maintenance of water levels. The argan forest protects the plains of southwestern Morocco and the slopes of the Atlas Mountains from soil erosion and desertification. Berber women use the oil for cooking, cosmetics, and as treatment for many illnesses and skin conditions.

How to Use
